Thankful List

It’s that time of year again… The time when we all try to outdo others in declaring how thankful we are. It’s hard to believe it has been another year. Another year of ups and downs. Another year of adventures and misfortunes. It’s been fabulous and I’m so glad I have the opportunity to give thanks for another year lived and loved.

So here’s my “Thankful” list.

I’m thankful for the air I breathe. I know that may sound like a simple thing but trust me… It’s not! I’ll never take breathing for granted again. This last year has been marked by my journey to just breathe.  The emotional pain I carried literally took my breath away.

Some of the things I learned through this is that sometimes the hard things in life can weigh so heavy on you that just taking a breath of air can seem out of reach.  I learned that all of my pain and stress doesn’t have to be my burden to carry. Jesus said that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. If my burden feels heavy maybe I’m carrying something I shouldn’t. I also learned that in Christ there is always hope even in an impossible situation.

God is bigger than any mountain you face and you will not reach the top any sooner by trying to do it alone. Sometimes you have to let go of the things you can’t control and let God take over.

So no matter what you are facing… give it to the One who laid the foundations of the world. He is able to do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens you. In Christ, you can rest.  In Christ, you can breathe!

So during this Thanksgiving season, as you eat more food than you should… Take a few minutes to give your burdens to the Lord and thank Him for all of the blessings! Rest in His peace that surpasses all understanding.
